The FlexSMART X5 allows you to play crisp, clear audio through your car stereo by connecting your Bluetooth smartphone, tablet or MP3 player to the device. Simply plug the X5 into your DC port, pair your device and you are ready to go! With auto-pairing technology, the X5 automatically enters pairing mode when powered on and will remember the last device used. That means you only have to pair your device once! If you have a non-bluetooth device you can play audio using the 3.5mm AUX port. A 3.5mm cable is provided for your convenience.

Multiple Features
The X5 is not only an instant Bluetooth upgrade but a charging station as well. It has a 1.0A USB power port that allows you to charge most smartphones or tablets in your car. Plug in your OEM cable into the USB port and you are ready to go! With the wide body and bright LED display, easily control audio volume, scan through music, play, pause, skip tracks or go back. You even have the ability to take phone calls using the built in handsfree speakerphone. Make and receive phone calls and redial the last number all with the touch of a button. The LCD display shows the current station and can navigate through other stations with the FM tuner knob. The auto-seek feature allows you to find the clearest station by simply holding down the FM tuning knob for 3 seconds. The X5 provides extended run time by going into "Power Save" mode when not in use.

Easy Mounting Options
The FlexSMART X5 offers multiple ways to enjoy and access audio control. The X5 can be powered through either the DC barrel or the internal rechargeable battery and is fully charged in just 2 hours. You can also detach the body of the transmitter from the neck, attach the hanging mount clip and hang it on your visor or air vent. its good product but the problem is the buttons are little hard in operation, i think they will be better if you change the design to rubber bottons to be easy in operation.

This was such a huge disappointment for me. I have had the X2 for years and figured it was time to treat myself and get an upgrade. Well, this was definitely a DOWNgrade.

Probably the biggest disappointment for me was that even when plugged into the DC unit, the transmitter doesn't charge... you have to actually plug the thing in via the provided micro-USB cable.. how pointless. When the unit gets low on battery it beeps very annoyingly at you every 2 seconds as well.

Second disappointment is the transmission somehow seems to be worse than the X2. My X2 comes through clear and only once in a while you will hear crackling during quiet parts/in between songs.. it was very difficult to get the X5 to work on a station without having static, and even then when driving around it gets worse/better.

I almost never write bad reviews, but this is a major exception. Overall, I am insanely disappointed with this product and am sticking with my X2.

I waited 6 months to write this review because I didn't want to write a review based on first impressions as so many do.
I live in a relatively rural area so at first I didn't realize just how bad this unit was. A few things about it annoyed me from the start but only when I took a cross-country trip did I realize it was nearly useless for any urban dweller or anyone who travels.
What is remarkably disappointing about this unit is that this seems to be Version 5 from this company so they've had several opportunities to improve their product. I paid almost $60 for my unit and it performs like a $10 unit.
Driving through any sizable city requires retuning at least 3 times and in larger cities it may require as many as 5 retuning as it does not generate a sufficient signal to cover even the weakest broadcast.
The display on the unit is mostly useless. Most of the time it shows the FM frequency you're using. You only need this information when first tuning your radio, not continuously. ANY OTHER information would be a better use for the display, a clock, the track number you're playing, the date etc.
The battery icon does NOT SHOW THE BATTERY LEVEL. It simply shows whether or not you're using the battery, almost useless information. I don't even bother to use it in battery mode. I leave it plugged in hoping full power will help not have to change stations quite so often.
THE BLUETOOTH ICON simply blinks while pairing and is on when paired - only slightly helpful information.
When skipping a song the display shows something indecipherable.
The manual that ships with the product does not properly describe all the functions and there is no better information on the web site.
As soon as I can find a reliable replacement this will go in the recycle bin. I won't even bother giving it away as this device should not be inflicted on anyone else. I cannot understand how ANY honest reviewer can give this thing a positive review.

Bought this to replace my $20 fm tuner I bought at a gas station. Turns out the FlexSMART X5 has way worse reception than I would have hoped for. It was staticy on every station I tried, even the auto selected stations. Also, the flex rod to adjust the position is WAY to stiff and un-flexable. It felt like I was about to break it every time I tried to adjust it. The little clip for visors or vents is also a pain to remove and put back on. On the positive side it does look nice and has lots of options. Would not recommend.

The good - The hardware is really nice - easy setup, easy use of controls. The user interface detaches from the charger and goose-neck mount and can be relocated to your visor, which is great for accessibility and phone conversation quality. Bluetooth phone conversation quality is great, actually outperforming two factory setups in my last two vehicles.
The bad - first off, the manual contains sketchy info at best. Online website information no better. Good thing its pretty easy to set up and use. If you have any questions, though, you probably won't find your answers in either place. Secondly, Finding any station with little or no static interference is impossible. I live in a busy metro area, so that may have something to do with it. Somewhat expected with FM transmitters, but I was hoping for more given its price. Thirdly, I have had bluetooth connectivity issues. I've use this device for several days now, and have been able to connect easily most of the time. However, I could not get it paired with my phone for almost two days. I tried everything, including a full reset of my phone. Suddenly, it mysteriously began pairing...wish I knew what solved the problem. Hoping this is a one-off problem.
I'm gonna keep using this thing, and I'll post more later.
